I’ve never been here before!
May 1, 2020
In our entire life, I’m certain none of us have ever experienced what we are now experiencing in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic. We are self-isolating, maintaining a social distance, and not gathering in large groups. We are forbidden to meet as we normally would on Sunday morning as a church. All of this has caused people to stay home from their jobs as millions of businesses have closed. We are watching daily as thousands of people die around the world. Our entire way of life is being affected in ways that we don’t know how we will be when this Pandemic ends. Why? Because we have never been here before!
I’m certain that many of the smaller businesses will not be able to open again because of the financial loss they have experienced during this pandemic. How will we help these people? I also suspect that the way we conduct church will change as people have found new ways to meet with each other through social media. For many, their “church” will be at home watching their Sunday or Wednesday services.
What about the incredible disruption this has caused in our schools and universities across our nation? Will the students be able to catch up? When will the school year start again? How will they function with all those students coming back to the classrooms? Is it realistic to think we can have smaller classes, keep them separated at lunch? And what about all the high school sports so many of them are involved in?
I am certain we could all say, “I don’t know because we have never been here before!”
What I do know is that when we as a people of faith face all the unknowns of both the present and the future, we can be sure that our God is still in control. We can be certain that He will provide for us, guide us, and protect us. God says in Matthew 28 that He knows all that we need, food, shelter, clothes. Then He says in verse 18-19, “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” What we are faced with is do you believe this? Are you certain enough that you can walk this road of faith and trust in peace, knowing that God will provide? Of this, I along with many of you can say a resounding, “Yes!” Because in this we have been here before.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support and be encouraged as you watch God walk with you, loving you, protecting you, guiding you, and providing for you.
